Rocket Cluster. Lithuanian engineers are developing leading global technologies

4 min skaitymas

Innovative solutions are showing the way for future engineering.

– A collaboration with several different companies turned out to have the potential for something more – and this is how Rocket Cluster was born, said Gediminas Tamošaitis. He is the CEO of UAB Metal Production in Lithuania and the Rocket Cluster organisation that allows professionals in various fields from seven companies to develops innovative solutions that are showing the way for future engineering.

We are developing innovations that are necessary all over the world, stated Gediminas Tamošaitis.

A larger group is more productive
-When different companies work together the job goes at rocket speed, with great results. In engineering, both the tempo and the best solutions are crucial. By sharing our knowledge, contacts and projects, we are able to be more productive in a larger group than if we operated separately.

Already a success
The companies that are operating as part of Rocket Cluster have already achieved successful not only in the domestic market of Lithuania, but also in Latvia, Estonia, Norway, USA, Switzerland and the Netherlands. These companies are also cooperating with customers in other countries.
– Geography does not limit the field of engineering, where innovations are being developed that are necessary all over the world, stated Gediminas Tamošaitis.

Wide range means more effective solutions
Rocket Cluster currently includes the companies UAB Metal Production, UAB Santaviltė, UAB Anaga, UAB LZtechnika, UAB AKSONAS and two non-associate members UAB TeleSoftas and UAB BE LIVE. It has taken five years to gather these companies to participate in project within the cluster, and the results have been successful both in Lithuania and in other countries.

The goal of the organisation is to provide customers with the widest possible range of services and the most efficient solutions, as quickly as possible. This mission is in line with the way we are experiencing demand around the world, said Gediminas Tamošaitis

From research and development to growing and harvesting algae
Rocket Cluster works with engineers in many areas including research and experimental development. Their activity includes development projects, structures, systems, equipment, production and the delivery of various engineering solutions. Other areas include the development and use of lasers in industry, implementation of Internet of Things technologies, development of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, design and implementation of modern high-speed data transmission systems, and consulting on various engineering issues. Yes, even seaweed cultivation and algae harvesting are among Rocket Cluster’s tasks.

For us, engineering is like medicine for doctors
Since engineering is a very broad field that covers many different areas, knowledge from many specialists is required to work productively. We are the ones who implement every part of a project from the drawings to the commissioning and testing. We look at engineering in the same way that doctors look at medicine. When we receive a task, we take the time to meet and look at the problem or question from every conceivable angle. We have completed many joint projects that have gained attention and interest from the global engineering industry, and at the same time we have had the opportunity to present Lithuania as a country of innovation and the latest technologies.

Food waste treatment in Norway
Recently, members of the cluster were contacted by biochemists from Norway, who needed to develop, detail and select equipment necessary for the treatment of food waste. With knowledge of what this process involved, the researchers then looked for engineers to help make the necessary processes a reality and our Lithuanian engineers found the solution.
– Lithuania is an ideal country for the production of non-standard equipment and products, and for the testing of processes. Since our human resources are a little cheaper, we have a wide range of opportunities that we can achieve quickly.
“At the moment we are the only companies established in Lithuania, but we can see there are many opportunities and we would like to encourage companies and engineers who work in laser technology, microsystems, biochemistry, chemistry, electronics and the Internet of Things to join our cluster,” said Gediminas Tamošaitis.

-Our mission has also become a desire to help those who are turning to us for innovations. This is because engineering solutions can solve problems, make life easier and provide the opportunity to use new technologies much earlier.

According to the initiator and founder of Rocket Cluster, the funds they have already developed will enable them to help cluster members not only with human resources and ideas, but also financially in the near future.
